一　过去分词作定语

1.单个的过去分词作定语一般放在被修饰的名词之前；过去分词短语作定语通常放在被修饰的名词之后，作后置定语，其作用相当于一个定语从句．试翻译：

My friend is a returned student. ______

The student dressed in white is my daughter.

= 变为定语从句________________

2.与现在分词作定语的区别

过去分词作定语与所修饰的名词之间存在被动关系，或表示动作的完成(不及物动词的过去分词不表被动,仅表完成)；现在分词作定语则表示主动关系，或表示动作正在进行(有时表示经常性的动作或状态)．试翻译：

The question discussed was very important. _____________

二　过去分词作表语
