　　To the firefighters' surprise, dropping a spoon may have saved Joy Horton's life. The 73-year-old woman has been living alone for almost ten years. One Monday morning, as usual, she was preparing some food in her western New York home on Lake Ontario. As she was washing something by the kitchen sink, the spoon she had washed happened to drop onto the floor, so she bent down to pick it up. Just then her house explode. Everything in her house was damaged, but Joy Horton wasn't seriously injured. She crawled out from underneath the broken bricks and walked to her daughter's home nearby to get help. Fire officials said no people were injured besides Joy Horton in the explosion. Because Joy was bending down when the explosion happened, the kitchen sink and counter top helped keep the broken things from hitting her. The police haven't found out what caused the explosion. They're still looking into the cause. Joy said it might have been caused by one of the old gas pipes, as her house was over one hundred years old.
