　　The emphasis of this unit will be placed on the important new words expressions and sentence patterns in the parts Warming up, Pre-reading, Reading and Comprehending.

　　Important points: Enable students to grasp the usages of such important new words and expressions as trick, gain, admire, take place, look forward to, as though, etc. get them to master the sentence patterns: "...people would starve if food was difficult to find." And "the country, covered with cherry tree flowers, looks as though it is covered with pink snow."

　　Difficult points: how to get them learn and master these useful words and expressions: how to enable them learn the adverbial clauses by as though.

　　Emotion aims: stimulate students` interest in learning English and to develop their spirit of cooperation and teamwork.

　　Step 1 Revision

1. Check the homework exercises.

2. Ask some students to talk about festivals and celebrations.

　　Step 2 Reading and finding

　　Read through Warming up, Pre-reading, Reading and Comprehending to underline all the new words and useful expressions or collocations.

　　Step 3 Practice for useful words and expressions

　　Turn to page 4. Go through the exercises in Discovering useful words and expressions to make them know what to do.

　　Get them finish the exercises and then check with them all in class.

　　Step 4 Studying important language points

　　1). Take place: occur, happen.发生,举行 (侧重安排或者计划而发生, 带有"非偶然性"
