  T:Of the four periods-listening,speaking,reading and writing,listening is regarded as the most difficult skill. We are now entering a new era. This new era places new demands on us. With people communicating with each other frequently,listening plays an important role in communication. Most students are afraid of listening,why?Because they find it difficult to learn and get high scores in examinations. That causes them to lose interest in listening. This period should be designed to arouse students' interest and improve their listening skill. At the same time,we should combine it with speaking and writing.

  Step 1

  T:Yesterday we learned the grammar-the interchanges of Direct speech and Indirect speech. We know we usually change the verb tenses and pronoun forms and adverbials in Indirect speech. But it is not necessary to change the tense when we report things that are always true. Now let's do some exercises to see if you have mastered them. Look at the screen.
