Surely we're still better off⑯ than those who wear rags and sleep on the streets or in vacant⑰ buildings, but there is a growing resistance⑱ to this consumer society which is especially affecting⑲ the youth of today with their computers, ipods, designer clothes and mobile phones. Protest⑳ groups are insisting that some of our money be given to the third world\s\up1(21(21). Trade unions demand that the government shorten\s\up1(22(22) the working week. They are also suggesting that people should share work and thus reduce unemployment. If laws such as these came into being\s\up1(23(23), a huge adjustment\s\up1(24(24) would be required and there would certainly be diverse\s\up1(25(25) reactions. But many feel it would be worth it.
