Step1.Preparation

1. Review of the listening in 1b. Ask questions about Sun Ning's invitation.

e.g. -- Can Jenny come to his party?

    --Yes, she can.

--Can Ted/Tim/ Kay/Anna/Wilson come to Sun Ning's party on Saturday afternoon? Why?

    --No, they can't....

Ted can't come to the party because he has to help his parents.

Tim can't, either. Because he has to prepare for an exam then.

Wilson can't, either. Because he has to go the doctor.

Anna can't, either. Because she might have to meet her friend.

Kay can't, either. Because she has the flu.

2. Encourage the Ss to narrate Sun Ning's party in their own words, using can/ can't and telling the reasons for decling the invitation.

e.g. Sun Ning is going to have a party on Saturday afternoon. He is inviting some of his good friends to his party. But only Jenny can go to his party. Ted can't go to the party because he has to help his parents. Tim can't either. Because he has to prepare for an exam....

Step2. Presentation

Present: ① either----也,用于否定句末。

Eg. You can't go to the party. I can't, either. 我也不能。

② might---may 的过去式。情态动词,表猜测,"也许,或许"might 的可能性更小。

E.g. I can't go to your party because I might have to meet my friend.
